Lagrein Dunkel – Trentino Doc

Caratteristiche

Grape variety

Lagrein, autochthonous red grape variety of Trentino Alto Adige.

Vineyards

produced with grapes grown in the alluvial plains of the river Sarca, in the Valle dei Laghi, on loose stony limestone soils. The mild and airy microclimate contributes to the perfect ripening of the grapes in order to obtain a wine with remarkable features.

Vinification & Aging

after crushing-destemming, maceration takes place in contact with the skins for about 10-12 days at a controlled temperature. This is followed by a few months of refinement in large oak barrels and a brief refinement in the bottle.

Organoleptic characteristics

a very deep ruby color. On the nose, it is complex and full of character with fresh hints of wild berries and vanilla. On the palate, Lagrein Dunkel offers a good structure and great balance, tasting smooth and velvety.

Tasting & Pairing

best served in large wine glasses at a temperature of 16-18°C. It is excellent to accompany pasta dishes with meat sauces or with both white and red meats. The wine’s good structure allows for a few years aging in the bottle after which it is perfect to be served with game and extra mature cheeses.
